Most people look at the sky and see stars. I see a city.

I built the first version of orbit in a rented garage with a $30 SDR dongle and a coat-hanger antenna, listening to NOAA weather satellites as they passed over my house. That first "beep" from a satellite 800 kilometers up rewired my brain.

What I realized: the sky is not empty and it is not still. There are twenty-seven thousand objects up there, and every single one is moving. Most of us never notice because it all happens in silence, too slow to watch and too fast to follow.

So here's the invitation. Open the live map, pick a satellite, and follow it around the planet once. You'll never look up the same way again.

How does orbit track satellites?+
We pull fresh TLEs (orbital elements) from public sources and our own ground network, then propagate each object's position in real time.
Is the live map really live?+
Yes — positions refresh every sixty seconds, driven by real ephemerides, not a looped animation.
Can I see the ISS from my house?+
Almost certainly. Set your coordinates and we'll tell you exactly when and where to look.
Is it just for satellites?+
No. We track debris, space stations, rockets, and launches — the whole near-earth sky.
Is orbit free?+
Yes — the live map, pass predictions, and core tracking are free now and stay free after launch.
Do you sell my location?+
Never. Your coordinates are used only to compute passes for you, and never leave your session.
